Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter Shiloh reveals new name after secret casting

The daughter of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie was cast in a music video without using the second names of either of her parents to help secure the roll.

Being born the child of a global megastar comes with certain perks – and drawbacks, if we’re being frank – and it makes sense to assume that being born the child of two only compounds those effects.

One of the most obvious eventualities is that sons or daughters of the rich and famous struggle to carve out a name for themselves without being associated with their parents. Even if they’ve managed to secure acting roles, book contracts, or record label deals through their own hard work, ability, and tenacity, people tend to assume they’ve been helped along the way, either by contacts, or by the sheer weight of their second name.

Sometimes, naturally, that is the case.

Not this time for Shiloh Jolie, reportedly. The 19-year-old daughter of ‘Brangelina’ was recently hired by the management team behind K-pop star Dayoung as a backup dancer for the What’s a Girl to Do music video.

The production team behind the video claim that they had no idea who Shiloh’s über iconic parents were, as the teenager was considered under the name ‘Shi’, an alias she has used for performances in the past.

As per reports, Shiloh, Angelina Jolie’s eldest biological child, secured the gig by attending an audition with her dance crew.

A rep for Starship Entertainment told South Korean newspaper Maeil Business Newspaper Star Today: “We held an open audition in the United States of America to cast performers for Dayoung’s music video.

“Among those who took part were several performers affiliated with a dance crew called ‘Culture.”

The rep added: “Even after filming, we had no idea she was the child of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, and only found out by chance quite recently.”

Shiloh – who two years ago officially dropped ‘Pitt’ from her name following “painful events” – is listed in the music video’s credits as simply “Shi”.

Shiloh started the process to remove “Pitt” on her 18th birthday, May 27, 2024, and later published a legal notice in the Los Angeles Times, stating her petition to change her name from “Shiloh Jolie-Pitt” to simply “Shiloh Jolie.”

Her name change was made official a few months later, some eight years after her mother filed for divorce from her father.

Since that time, some of her siblings have opted for a similar course of action. 24-year-old Maddox, for example, whom Angelina adopted from Cambodia before meeting Brad, ditched the ‘Pitt’ part of his last name.

Meanwhile, 17-year-old Vivienne, one of the twins Brad and Angelina share, also went by just “Vivienne Jolie” when she was credited in the role of producer assistant in the playbill of Broadway musical The Outsiders.
