A woman who claims she had a “secret” affair with convicted murderer Chris Watts has spoken publicly about their alleged relationship, sharing messages she says he sent before he killed his pregnant wife and two young daughters.

Amanda McMahon alleges the relationship lasted several months and ended before Watts murdered Shanann Watts and their daughters, Bella and Celeste, in 2018.
According to McMahon, the two matched on Tinder in 2017 before exchanging phone numbers and eventually meeting in person at a Chick-fil-A parking lot.
She claimed Watts referred to Shanann as his “baby mama” rather than his wife during their first meeting.
McMahon also alleged that they later went to her home, watched Shutter Island, and had consensual sex.
However, she claimed that “in the snap of a finger, he went from normal to crazy,” adding that she became “scared to say anything” after he allegedly became aggressive during the encounter.
She claimed, “He did not like that poor woman.”
According to McMahon, Chris Watts also described Shanann as a “f***ing psycho” and a “gold digger,” among other “awful things.”
McMahon also shared what she said were text messages exchanged between the two.
One conversation allegedly began with her writing, “Morning bud,” to which Watts replied, “What’s new pretty lady? When can we eat tacos together?”
After she responded that it “sounds like a plan,” he allegedly wrote, “This could get out of hand. I like it.”
She says she ended contact months before the murders
McMahon said she remained in contact with Watts and met him on at least two more occasions before ending the relationship in March 2018 after changing her phone number.
She said she was going through a custody battle at the time and was trying to “numb” her emotions, describing Watts as “sick” but saying he initially appeared to be an ordinary person.
Watts is serving multiple life sentences at Dodge Correctional Institution after being convicted of murdering Shanann, who was pregnant at the time, and their daughters, Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3, in August 2018.
Prosecutors said Watts strangled Shanann before killing the two girls and disposing of their bodies at an oil site where he worked.
After initially denying responsibility, Watts confessed following a failed polygraph examination. In November 2018, he was sentenced to five life terms without the possibility of parole.
