A recently leaked court filing made by Angelina Jolie details the terrifying flight where Brad Pitt allegedly attacked his ex-wife before he “choked one of the children and struck another in the face.”
The divorce battle between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, once Hollywood’s golden couple, continues to make headlines years after their split.
The couple, who separated in 2016, were declared legally single in 2019, but unresolved disputes over custody, finances, and property have prolonged the legal saga.
One of the most contentious issues has been the ownership of Château Miraval, the winery they co-owned in France. Jolie sold her stake to a third party, prompting Pitt to accuse her of breaching agreements, further escalating tensions.
Amid these disputes, both parties have aired grievances, with Jolie accusing Pitt of abusive behavior, claims that he has consistently denied.
On September 19, 2016, only days after the Wolfs star allegedly assaulted his ex-wife and two of their kids on a private jet, the Tomb Raider star filed for divorce, saying it was for her “family’s well-being.”
Jolie, 49, claimed that her ex-husband was physically and emotionally abusive while intoxicated in front of their children; Maddox (23), Pax (20), Zahara (19), Shiloh (18), and 16-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.
Jolie later admitted that she saw “Pitt have two to three drinks, but said he appeared articulate and not intoxicated.”
According to the Associated Press (AP), the FBI and the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services investigated, and all parties “agreed by all parties that criminal charges in this case would not be pursued due to several factors.”
The plane incident
On November 28, 2024, the shocking document detailing the claims made against Pitt, 60, was released to the online population by a Redditor.
The disturbing filing highlights key parts of the accusations against the Fight Club star and the scuffle with his ex-wife and the kids, an argument that started before the family boarded the private plane, traveling from Château Miraval to Los Angeles.
Once the plane took off, Pitt reportedly accused the mother of being “too deferential” to their kids, and then he launched his “attack.”
The document suggests that the Meet Joe Black star “grabbed Jolie by the head and shook her, and then grabbed her shoulders and shook her again before pushing her into the bathroom wall.”
“Pitt then punched the ceiling of the plane numerous times, prompting Jolie to leave the bathroom.”
“When one of the children verbally defended Jolie, Pitt lunged at his own child and Jolie grabbed him from behind to stop him. To get Jolie off his back, Pitt threw himself backwards into the airplane’s seats injuring Jolie’s back and elbow.
“The children rushed in…Before it was over, Pitt choked one of the children and struck another in the face. Some of the children pleaded with Pitt to stop. They were all frightened. Many were crying.”
The report also explains that Pitt continued with his hostilities, even forcing the family to stay on the plane for 20 minutes after it landed.
Jolie filed for divorce only five days later.
‘Monster’
When the details of the incident started circulating online, social media platforms were flooded with reactions, with many expressing disbelief and outrage at the allegations.
And while Pitt has consistently denied the claims and was cleared by authorities after investigations, the newly publicized details have reignited discussions surrounding the high-profile couple’s tumultuous relationship.
“I feel like if everything goes your way 100% of the time, you probably start thinking there are no consequences for being a f***ing monster. Seems to be a lot of evidence to support that theory,” writes one Redditor, responding to the copy of Jolie’s filing.
A second pens, “Maddening that between his talent, his looks and, perhaps most powerfully, his PR crew, he’ll likely never be cancelled to any degree,” shares a third.
Others blame the industry for enabling certain behaviors: “Hollywood isn’t short of incredibly sh**ty people who happen to be box office draws,” writes one. A second, referring to Pitt’s Oscar-winning role in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, writes, “I remember thinking at the time how odd it was that this report was just widely ignored as he swept that awards season for playing a guy who killed his wife.”
Another adds, “This place doesn’t want to hold Pitt accountable at all. They just want to talk about how ‘yummy'”‘ he is.”
Pitt’s lawyer, Anne Kiley, released a statement saying: “Brad has owned everything he’s responsible for from day one – unlike the other side – but he’s not going to own anything he didn’t do. Klein continues, “He has been on the receiving end of every type of personal attack and misrepresentation…Thankfully, the various public authorities the other side has tried to use against him over the past six years have made their own independent decisions.
“Brad will continue to respond in court as he has consistently done.”
