Jessie James Decker is speaking out after she claims her sister was “humiliated” on a recent United Airlines flight.
The country star says her younger sister Sydney Rae Bass was embarrassed while flying with her two young daughters after Sydney’s youngest spilled some popcorn and a flight attendant told her to “clean up every drop.”
“My poor sister is on her hands and knees, crying in the aisle completely humiliated and exhausted, with her children while everyone else watched. Way to go United,” Jessie said on a now expired Instagram Story.

“My sister @sydneyraebass just texted me from her flight on @united. As you know, she is five months pregnant, high-risk, and also traveling alone with her two small children. Blaire accidentally spilled some popcorn in the aisle, and the flight attendant came up to Sydney with a trash bag and a wet wipe, telling her the captain wants Syd to clean up every drop,” Jessie wrote.
The 34-year-old mother of three said the entire time she believed it was her sister who brought the popcorn onboard for the girls, but Sydney responded, “United did.”
“Sydney had two flights, and United, on the first flight, they gave them both popcorn,” Jessie said.
“If popcorn is a hazard, why are they giving it on planes?”
Sydney’s husband Anthony Bass who is the Toronto Blue Jays’ pitcher also chimed in.
“The flight attendant @united just made my 22 week pregnant wife traveling with a 5 year old and 2 year old get on her hands and knees to pick up the popcorn mess by my youngest daughter. Are you kidding me?!?!”
Responses to the incident were mixed. Most had something negative to say to Anthony, especially after he replied “the cleaning crew they hire!” should be responsible for the mess his two-year-old child makes. And many people came to the defense of Sydney on Instagram.
“Are we supposed to carry hand held vacuums with us, too?!! Give mommas a break… especially ones traveling solo! Plane rides are hard enough with little ones? ?,” someone wrote on Instagram.
On Monday Jessie revealed United and her sister had been in contact.
This story has caused a lot of debate. What do you think, who is ultimately responsible for cleaning up the mess?
