Previously unseen photo of Queen Elizabeth alongside her grandchildren released on what would have been her 97th birthday

A new photo of Queen Elizabeth has been released on what would have been her 97th birthday.

The picture, which was taken by the Princess of Wales, features some of the Queen’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The never-before-seen family photo was shared on Prince and Princess of Wales’ social media accounts Friday.

“Today would have been Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s 97th birthday. This photograph — showing her with some of her grandchildren and great grandchildren — was taken at Balmoral last summer.”

The image shows Queen Elizabeth seated surrounded by some of the youngest royals including, Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4; Mia, 9, Lena, 4, and Lucas, 2 (the children of Zara [granddaughter to the Queen] and Mike Tindall); Peter Phillips’ two daughters, Savannah, 12, and Isla, 11; and James, 15, and Lady Louise Windsor, 19 (Prince Edward’s children).

Prince Archie and Princess Lilbet as well as Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s son August and Princess Beatrice’s daughter Sienna were absent from the photo op.

The latest photo of the Queen was taken last summer during a family trip to Balmoral.

The Queen typically spent the summer months at the estate during her 70-year reign.

On September 8, 2022, Queen Elizabeth “died peacefully” at Balmoral. She was 96.

Happy heavenly birthday, Queen Elizabeth!
