As D4vd awaits trial after being charged with the murder of 14-year-old Celeste Hernandez, investigators examining his personal life have allegedly uncovered a ‘significant amount of child p**n*graphy’, according to prosecutors.
The 21-year-old singer-songwriter, whose real name is David Burke, was arrested last week and formally charged on April 20 in connection with Hernandez’s murder and dismemberment, nearly eight months after her remains were discovered in his car.
Hernandez had been reported missing by her family in 2024 at the age of 13 and was never seen again. Burke is now facing the highest level of sentencing for the alleged crimes, with special circumstances cited, including lying in wait, committing a crime for financial gain, and murdering a witness in an investigation.
Burke has denied all charges. Nonetheless, the prosecution’s case advanced significantly today as authorities disclosed the extensive volume of data they claim to have retrieved from his iCloud account and physical storage devices.
So far, investigators have reviewed just one terabyte out of eight recovered from Burke’s iCloud. LA County deputy district attorney Beth Silverman told the court that progress has been slow due to the time required to process such a large amount of data.
Despite examining only a fraction of the material, Silverman confirmed in court that a ‘significant amount’ of child abuse images had already been identified within the files.
It remains unclear what portion of the total 8000 gigabytes consists of such imagery. Silverman also stated that an additional 30 terabytes of data were found across several devices belonging to Burke.
As both the prosecution and defense prepare for trial, all of this material will need to be transferred to drives and reviewed by each side. Variety reports that Burke appeared ‘slumped’ in his chair as these details were discussed in court.
These developments come shortly after the LA County medical examiner released the autopsy findings related to Celeste Hernandez’s death and dismemberment.
The autopsy concluded that her injuries were consistent with ‘homicide’ and that she died from ‘multiple penetrating injuries’, including wounds to her chest, torso, and abdomen.
Although the autopsy had been completed in December, it was only unsealed this week. Hernandez’s remains had been discovered in multiple bags inside D4vd’s impounded Tesla, with her arms and legs removed.
Burke is charged with first-degree murder with special circumstances.
In April 2024, Celeste Rivas Hernandez who was 13 years old at the time was reported missing for the third time by her family in Lake Elsinore, California.
On September 8, 2025, Celeste’s body was found in the trunk of D4vd’s car. His representatives stated that the singer was cooperating with authorities. In September 2025, D4vd performed as scheduled at The Fillmore Minneapolis despite the ongoing investigation into Celeste’s death.
The same month, Celeste’s family launches a fundraiser and issues a statement: “As many of you know, Celeste Rivas Hernandez has been identified as the body found last week. She was a beloved daughter, sister, cousin, and friend. Her family is heartbroken and devastated by this tragic loss. Any funds you are able to donate are greatly appreciated. More than $24,000 is raised.
In the same month, D4vd cancels the remainder of his world tour, and the planned deluxe version of his debut album is not released.
The following month, in September 2025, The Los Angeles medical examiner’s office receives a court order preventing public release of details surrounding Celeste’s death.
Earlier this month, D4vd was arrested and held without bail.
