‘Today’ contributor ‘quietly divorcing’ husband of two years

Jill Martin and Erik Brooks are no more.

The Today lifestyle contributor and her financier husband of two years filed for divorce at the beginning of August, according to Page Six.

Brooks and Martin met on a dating app, and by 2019 the couple was engaged. However the pandemic complicated their relationship, forcing the pair to live in separate cities, and they called off their engagement before eventually splitting up.

After 18 months apart, Brooks and Martin were engaged again and in 2022 they wed in front of family and friends at the New York Public Library.

In 2023, just a few months shy of their first anniversary, the couple was faced with yet another hardship. Martin was diagnosed with stage II breast cancer.

The Today contributor chose to share her personal health journey, including her double mastectomy and chemotherapy, because she thought it was “important” to include not just the happy and sad moments of her life, but also the “scary” times.

At the time Martin thanked her husband for his support during her fight against cancer.

“Honestly, I am doing OK. I have a loving husband, amazing family and friends and an incredible support system,” she wrote in an essay for Today.

Most recently, fans have taken note that Martin that while she has appeared on Today, she has not been wearing her wedding ring.

A spokesperson for Martin told Page Six, the former couple’s divorce took place in the beginning of August, and they “are nearly done with the process.”

“Because there are families involved, and the past year has been so earth-shattering for Jill, she plans for this to be her only acknowledgment,” her spokesperson continued. “She is concentrating on her health and being an amazing daughter, friend and new aunt.”

It’s always sad to hear when a marriage doesn’t work out. I wish the best for both people.
