Recently, a deeply tragic event has gripped the nation. In a suburb of Seattle, Washington, a teenage boy has been charged with allegedly killing most of his family.
The boy reportedly shot and killed his parents, Sarah and Mark, along with three siblings. However, his 11-year-old sister survived. The New York Post obtained the indictment from the King County Prosecutor’s Office, which details how the girl told police her brother shot the family using their father’s gun. She was also shot—in the hand and neck—but survived by pretending to be dead, lying as still as possible out of fear for her life. Her quick thinking may have saved her.
The attack reportedly happened at night while the girl was asleep. In police interviews, she recounted waking up to the sound of gunfire and then seeing her father and one of her brothers lying motionless in a pool of blood, according to the New York Post.
The first 911 call was reportedly made by the suspect himself. He claimed to the dispatcher that one of his brothers had killed the family and then taken his own life after being caught watching pornography. Meanwhile, the younger sister had managed to escape to a neighbor’s house, where she alerted police and identified her 15-year-old brother as the perpetrator.
According to the sister, the suspect had recently failed a school exam and had been “in trouble” shortly before the incident.
