8-year-old girl recovered from Mexico after being kidnapped since 2018

There is nothing scarier for a parent than to consider something happening to their child. This family lived their worst nightmare when their daughter went missing in 2018.

Now years later, she has been found…

8-year-old Aranza Maria Ochoa Lopez from Vancouver, Washington was kidnapped in October 2018. The little girl was at a Vancouver shopping mall when she was kidnapped by her biological mother on October 25, 2018.

Since then authorities were determined on finding the little girl. The FBI issued a missing person poster and discovered that Aranza had been taken to Mexico.

There were a lot of agencies involved in recovering little Aranza including the FBI’s Legal Attaché in Mexico City, the Vancouver Police Department, Washington State’s Department of Children, Youth, and Families, Fiscalía General del Estado de Michoacán, and the Instituto Nacional de Migración.

The FBI’s Seattle field office’s Richard A. Collodi made a comment saying, “For more than four years, the FBI and our partners did not give up on Aranza.” He added, “Our concern now will be supporting Aranza as she begins her reintegration into the U.S.”

The little girl was born April 17, 2014, and has been missing since she was little more than a toddler. The missing person poster for Aranza said she spoke English and a little Spanish. They described her ethnicity as Hispanic and added that the little girl also had her ears pierced.

The FBI had also added a reward of  $10,000 for information leading to the recovery of little Aranza. Due to the sensitive nature of the case, there have been no further details added.

It is such a relief that little Aranza was found and is now back with her family after her kidnapping. We are wishing them well as they learn how to heal from this time of turbulence for them!
