Amanda Bynes was placed in a psychiatric hold for 72-hours after she called emergency services on herself. A source close to the situation said, “She hasn’t been in contact with her family for quite some time.”

The actress was seen walking around naked in the streets of Los Angeles on March, 19th. She then flagged down a passing by vehicle and called 911 on herself in order to get help.

According to reports, the actress told the driver that she had been coming down from a psychotic episode. She was then taken to the nearby police station where professionals determined that she needed to be put under a 5150 psychiatric hold.

This episode has taken place a year after Bynes’ conservatorship was dissolved. Her parents Lynn and Rick Bynes supported her decision to have her conservatorship dissolved. The former child actress was placed in a conservatorship since 2013. Her conservatorship of the estate was terminated in 2017.

“In the last several years, I have been working hard to improve my health so that I can live and work independently, and I will continue to prioritize my well-being in this next chapter,” Bynes said in a statement delivered by her attorney David Esquibias, on March 22, 2022. “I am excited about my upcoming endeavors — including my fragrance line — and look forward to sharing more when I can,” the actress said about gaining control back into her life.

The Ventura Superior Court Judge Roger L. Lund who made the decision for dissolution of the conservatorship said that the decision came about because “grounds for establishment of a conservatorship of the person no longer exist.”

Her attorney revealed during the case for the dissolution of the conservatorship that Bynes had been living in a “structured community for women” since 2022. This enabled her to live an independent lifestyle but still have a case manager that she had to check in with from time to time.

In the recent past the actress has opened up about her issues with substance abuse. “I got really into my drug usage and it became a really dark, sad world for me,” she said, describing her daily life after quitting acting as “just stuck at home, getting high, watching TV and tweeting,” she said in an interview.

I’ve been sober for almost four years now,” Bynes added, crediting her parents for “really helping me get back on track.”

The actress was set to make an appearance at the 90’s Con which was taking place from March 17 to March 19. But her appearance had been canceled due to ‘illness.’

At the convention, her co-stars from All That Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell gave well wishes for the actress.

“I’ve just been praying for her,” Mitchell said. “We’re just continuing to pray for her on her journey, and it’s answered prayers that she’s doing a lot better.”
