Blake Shelton’s pop-star wife Gwen Stefani thought her “life was over” before she met the country singer

NEW YORK - SEPTEMBER 08: Gwen Stefani attends quarterfinal match between Roger Federer of Switzerland and Robin Soderling of Sweden at US Open tennis tournament on September 08, 2010, New York.

Gwen Stefani had a very public divorce from her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale and had perhaps given up on the idea of a happily ever after. But love has a funny way of finding you!

She fell head over heels in love with her co-coach for the show ‘The Voice,’ the one and only, Blake Shelton. And his southern charm is something she often talks about.

Gwen Stefani was married to her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale for fourteen years while Blake Shelton’s marriage to Miranda Lambert lasted four years. While Stefani’s marriage ended in 2016, Shelton and Lambert had called it quits a year earlier in 2015.

Both Shelton and Stefani were coaches on the show The Voice, and they had just been friends and colleagues for a while, neither of them imagining something romantic could ever happen between them!

“God just put us together. It was one of those miracle situations where I didn’t see it coming,” Stefani said on Barrymore’s show. “I was like, ‘I’m gonna wake up every day, I’m gonna have a coffee, I’m gonna take care of my kids and then I’m gonna go to bed.'”

The singer truly believed she would never have a romantic relationship again. She said, “‘Like, I’m never gonna kiss anyone.’ …like, I thought my life was over. And then Blake Shelton’s like, ‘Hey. I’m Blake Shelton.'”

And according to Stefani, her husband Blake Shelton has been ‘a dream.’

“Finding a best friend, someone that is, like, on the same plane when it comes to morals, or just the way you look at life, that’s the dream,” she says of her 46-year-old country singer husband. “Having someone that, we think the same about things yet we’re so different, like, he’s watching football and doing his stuff that he does and I’m, like, putting makeup on. We are so different yet we’re so the same on so many levels.”

Host Drew Barrymore happily agreed with Stefani, saying, “That’s the perfect balance, because opposites attract, expand each other’s horizons, and also give a little room for individuality.”

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani make such an adorable couple. The fact that they are so different but adore each other really warms my heart!
