Candace Cameron Bure finally responds to allegations against her trying to get new Fuller House character axed

Candace Cameron Bure has been in and out of the news cycle quite often recently. There have been some concerning allegations against her recently by another cast member of Fuller House.

Now, the actress is responding to the allegations leveled against her. Keep reading to learn more about this whole story.

24-year-old transgender actress Miss Benny recently made a TikTok video that stunned many people. In the video, the actress said that “one of the Tanner sisters” wanted to have her role on the Full House spin-off Fuller House axed.

“I was on Fuller House, I played Casey, the first gay character on the Full House franchise,” Miss Benny said in her post. “One of the Tanner sisters is very publicly ‘not for the girls’ if that makes sense? [And] I remember I got sat down by the writers and the studio to basically warn me how this person, allegedly, was trying to get the character removed and not have a queer character on the show.”

“I was also sort of warned and prepared that this person’s fan base might be encouraged to target me specifically,” she shared.

“So, to this day — despite working on the show every day for two weeks straight — I have only had a conversation with one of the Tanner sisters,” Miss Benny claimed.

While Miss Benny did not name Bure, the actress has responded to the allegations seemingly made about her. Bure released a statement which said, “I never asked Miss Benny’s character to be removed from Fuller House and did not ask the writers, producers or studio executives to not have queer characters on the show,” Adding, “Fuller House has always welcomed a wide range of characters.”

“I thought Miss Benny did a great job as ‘Casey’ on the show. We didn’t share any scenes together, so we didn’t get a chance to talk much while filming on set,” the statement read.

“I wish Miss Benny only the best,” Bure concluded.

Miss Benny herself said that while she failed to understand why there was so much negativity directed toward the character and herself, she nonetheless found playing the character rewarding.

She shared, “The positive is I had a really fun time shooting the show with all the other actors who were willing to talk to me and the show ultimately led to me being on Glamourous on Netflix.” Adding, “So everything happens for a reason.”

In the past, Candace Cameron Bure has been accused of prejudice before. She made a comment in an interview how she hopes to “keep traditional marriage at the core” with her new projects.

Her comments did not go over well with the internet or fellow celebrities.

The backlash resulted in a lengthy Instagram post where the 46-year-old addressed the controversy.

“All of you who know me, know beyond question that I have great love and affection for all people. It absolutely breaks my heart that anyone would ever think I intentionally would want to offend and hurt anyone,” she said of the accusations hurled at her

She continued explaining how being a “devote Christian” means she is “called to love all people.”

“If you know me, you know that I am a person who loves fiercely and indiscriminately. My heart yearns to build bridges and bring people one step closer to God, to love others well, and to simply be a reflection of God’s huge love for all of us.”

Bure also added she had space in her heart to love members of the media who took “this opportunity to fan flames of conflict and hate.”

“It saddens me that the media is often seeking to divide us, even around a subject as comforting and merry as Christmas movies. But, given the toxic climate in our culture right now, I shouldn’t be surprised. We need Christmas more than ever.”
