Mark Ballas makes announcement about retirement from ‘Dancing With the Stars’

If you are a fan of the hit show ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ then you definitely know who Mark Ballas is. The dancer has been lighting the floor on fire for over a decade. And now, as the show ends its 31st season, the dancer made a shocking announcement.

The dancers from the show ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ are currently performing on the DWTS tour in Las Vegas. Last night, one of the dancers on the show Mark Ballas made a shocking announcement to a crowd in Las Vegas.

The dancer won the mirrorball trophy with partner Charli D’Amelio, a social media personality. This was Ballas’ first time performing on the series since Season 25.

The dancer had planned a special announcement at the performance. He knew what a monumental occasion it would be which is why his wife BC Jean and his parents were also sitting in the crowd to await the emotional moment.

The dancer finally made the announcement. “I just want to finish this by saying I’ve done 20 seasons now. I was 21, 22 and honestly, being able to dance and perform for you fans, you guys are the best fans. Thank you,” Ballas began.

“So I just want to finish by saying, this will be the last time you’ll see me dance in this capacity. I’m coming to a close tonight. It’s going to be my last dance,” the 36-year-old dancer-musician announced. As he made the announcement, audible gasps could be heard from the crowd, showing their shock at the announcement of his retirement from the show.

He continued, “I had the best time ever this season and this freestyle was just a great way to finish it off… Charli means the world to me. The D’Amelio family, you guys mean the world to me. Thank you for everything.”

His partner for the last season D’Amelio was present at the announcement too. She performed with the dancer one last time to wrap up the DWTS tour and help him say goodbye to the franchise.

But the famed dancer wanted to clarify to fans that this would not be the end of his dancing career. He said, “Thank you, guys, for a lifetime of memories. He added, “I’m not saying this is the end. This is just the last time I will be dancing with a partner and I wanted to finish this with Charli. And I appreciate you guys so much.”

The Dancing With the Stars alum first appeared on the show in 2007 during season 5. He was paired with The Cheetah Girls star Sabrina Bryan. Ballas has won the mirrorball trophy thrice, the first time was in season 6 when he was partnered with Kristi Yamaguchi, the second time was in season 8 with Shawn Johnson, and most recently in season 31 with D’Amelio. 

It is clear that thousands of fans of the show will miss Mark Ballas and the energy and enthusiasm he brought with him to the show.
