The Memphis Grizzlies star Brandon Clarke died on Monday at the age of 29. Now, reports about a disturbing find as police entered his home have come to light.
The world of sports is in shock after the news of the passing of NBA star Brandon Clarke, who played for the Memphis Grizzlies, was announced. Clarke’s agency, Priority Sports, was first to confirm his death.
“We are beyond devastated by the passing of Brandon Clarke,” Priority Sports said in the statement. “He was so loved by all of us here, and everyone whose life he touched. He was the gentlest soul who was the first to be there for all of his friends and family. Our hearts are so broken as we think about his mom, Whitney, his entire family, and all of his friends and teammates.”
The statement continued, “From high school to San Jose State to Gonzaga to the Grizzlies, Brandon impacted everyone who was part of his life. Everyone loved BC because he was always there as the most supportive friend you could ever imagine. He was so unique in the joy he brought to all of those in his life. It’s just impossible to put into words how much he’ll be missed.”

The Memphis Grizzlies also shared the tragic news on social media on Monday.
“We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of Brandon Clarke,” the Grizzlies said in a statement. “Brandon was an outstanding teammate and an even better person whose impact on the organization and the greater Memphis community will not be forgotten.”

News of Clarke’s passing has sent shockwaves through the NBA community. Teammates, fans, and fellow players flooded social media with emotional tributes, remembering him not only as a talented athlete but also as a kind-hearted teammate and friend.
TMZ reported that Clarke was found unresponsive at a home in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, California, on Monday evening after emergency personnel responded to a medical call.
Authorities have since confirmed that his death is being investigated as a possible overdose. Per NBC4 Los Angeles, the drug paraphernalia was reportedly discovered inside the home.
As of Tuesday, no official cause of death has been determined. Investigators are awaiting autopsy and toxicology results. The Los Angeles Medical Examiner has listed the cause and manner of death as “deferred.” Additional testing is still pending.

Born on September 19, 1996, in Vancouver, Canada, Clarke was selected 21st overall in the 2019 NBA Draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder. He played college basketball at San Jose State and Gonzaga.
Was due to appear before a judge
On draft night, however, Clarke was traded to Memphis on draft night. Clarke spent his entire NBA career with the Grizzlies, earning NBA All-Rookie First Team honors in 2020 after averaging 12.1 points and 5.9 rebounds in his debut season. During his seven seasons with the Grizzlies, he averaged 10.2 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.
Just weeks before his death, Clarke had reportedly been facing several legal issues connected to an April traffic stop in Arkansas. Court records, cited by TMZ, state the NBA player was due to appear before a judge later this week on multiple drug-related charges.
