Riley Keough shares emotional Mother’s Day tribute for late mom Lisa Marie Presley

Mother’s Day is an event celebrated by everyone; the famous of course are no exception. The day rings especially bittersweet for those who have lost their mothers.

Riley Keough lost her mother Lisa Marie Presley earlier this year but still took time to celebrate her late mother on the special day. Keep reading to learn more.

Riley Keough took to social media to pen a touching tribute to her late mother. She posted a photo on Instagram and captioned it with a tear-jerking statement. The picture she posted depicted Keough as a newborn infant in her mother’s and father’s arms.

She wrote in the caption simply, “Lucky to have had the best and most deeply loving mama I could have asked for.” 

This is Keough’s first Mother’s Day after her mother Lisa Marie Presley’s sudden and tragic passing. Keough herself became a mother in 2022 by welcoming her first child with her husband Ben Smith-Petersen.

Other celebrities expressed their love for Keough and her late mother in the post. Actress Lindsay Lohan commented, “Sending love to you! Happy Mother’s Day to you too.”

Lisa Marie Presley died on January 12 from a cardiac arrest at her home in Calabasas. Her heart was restarted on the way to the hospital in West Hills Hospital in Los Angeles where she spent her final moments. She passed away at the age of 54 years old in Los Angeles surrounded by her family and loved ones.

It was during Lisa Marie’s memorial service at Graceland that it was revealed that she had become a grandmother in her final months of life. Riley Keough’s husband Ben Smith-Petersen read a statement written by his wife at the service.

He read, “I hope I can love my daughter the way you loved me, the way you loved my brother and my sisters. Thank you for giving me strength, my heart, my empathy, my courage, my sense of humor, my manners, my temper, my wildness, my tenacity,” Ben read on behalf of his wife. “I’m a product of your heart, my sisters are a product of your heart, my brother is a product of your heart.”

Lisa Marie’s son Benjamin Keough died by suicide in the summer of 2020. His death caused great sadness for the entire family, especially Lisa Marie who often remembered her son and posted it about it on social media.

Keough met her husband while shooting Mad Max: Fury Road in the couple tied the knot in 2015. This was the first time they acknowledged having a child in public.
