Rod Stewart ‘downhearted’ over health condition that forced him to cancel his show

Rod Stewart announced to his fans that he was ‘downhearted’ to have to cancel his show in Australia just hours before it was scheduled to take place.

The singer who was crestfallen at disappointing his fans who had had tickets to see his show for months said the reason for canceling it had been a viral infection that had affected him much more than he expected.

The singer took to social media to inform his fans of this update. He wrote, “Hello my friends, I’m absolutely downhearted that I’m disappointing my fans who bought tickets to A Day On The Green. Late this morning I was advised that I have a viral infection and my throat is too irritated to sing,” he wrote.

“I’m only human and sometimes get sick just like you do. My greatest joy is performing for you, so I’m doing everything I can to get on the mend and get back on stage,” Stewart added.

Hours before he made the announcement himself, Live Nation and Roadhouse Entertainment who are in charge of the tour had informed people who bought tickets that the show had been canceled “due to illness.”

“We apologize for the disappointment and inconvenience to ticket holders,” the statement from the organizers read. “A further announcement regarding the concert arrangements will be made early next week.”

The singer was on a ‘Hits’ tour in Australia with Cyndi Lauper and Jon Stevens.

The singer received a lot of love from his fans, all of whom wished him a speedy recovery. Just last week the singer had posted a video of him dancing on stage and singing his hit ‘ You Wear It Well.’

“And we’re off!” he wrote in the caption. “First night of Australian tour in Perth was a fantastic one.”
