Princess Kate has been at the London Clinic in London for three days. Per the Kensington Palace’s statement released Wednesday, the Princess of Wales underwent a planned abdominal surgery on Tuesday and won’t be back on royal duty until after Easter.
Prince William and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, were all said to have visited Kate at the hospital yesterday, where she will stay for ten to 14 days, depending on the procedure she’s undergone. But we will probably only see more details about the surgery for a short time.
While the surgery was planned, some believe the Firm is hiding something. Now, a royal expert has provided fans with her own theory – and things don’t seem to be adding up.
Kate Middleton has spent four days at the London Clinic after what Kensington Palace stated was a “planned” abdominal surgery. On Wednesday, the Palace released the statement just an hour before news came out that King Charles is set to have surgery next week.

“Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales was admitted to The London Clinic yesterday for planned abdominal surgery. The surgery was successful and it is expected she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery. Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter,” the statement from Kensington Palace on its social media pages.
“The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private.”
The statement continued: “Kensington Palace will, therefore, only provide updates on Her Royal Highness’ progress when there is significant new information to share. The Princess of Wales wishes to apologise to all those concerned for the fact she has to postpone her upcoming engagements. She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible.”
According to the Telegraph, Kate wasn’t rushed to the hospital. However, aides were still planning for her trips and future engagements as recently as the end of last week.
Once discharged from the hospital, Kate Middleton is expected to recover at her family home in Windsor, where she and Prince William relocated to in 2022 from London.
William canceled “top-secret” plan
While Kate is recovering, it’s understood that Prince William will also cut down on his public engagements. This is to help better care for the couple’s three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
William will not be on official duty as long as Kate stays at the hospital. According to The Sun, the Prince of Wales was supposed to visit British troops abroad, but the “top-secret” plan has now been postponed. Meanwhile, the couple was supposed to visit Italy and its capital, Rome – where they possibly would’ve met the Pope – but that has also been called off.

Princess Kate has to take a step back regarding her significant projects, such as the Shaping Us initiative, as she recovers. Also, they will take on fewer duties during Mental Health Awareness Week next month, during which they are expected to be heavily featured in marketing campaigns.
In an interview with GB News, royal expert Jennie Bond said her “jaw dropped” when she read the statement, saying it was a “shock.”
“We’re told it was a planned procedure, that it was an abdominal problem, that it is not cancer,” Bond said. “But to be in hospital for two weeks and then to go recover for up to two or three months and have a full diary canceled means it may have been planned, but not for a very long time.”
Royal expert “surprised” over longer Kate Middleton hospital stay
Further, the royal expert says Kate Middleton is doing the right thing in not releasing her medical details,
“I have no idea what it is she doesn’t want us to know at this stage, but I do know that she will want to be back home with her family and her children as soon as possible. And so that makes it all more surprising that she may not be back home for a fortnight,” she continued.
“Prince William is going to divide his time between looking after the children and being at his wife’s bedside, and therefore he won’t be carrying out public engagements either.”
William will be more responsible for looking after George, Charlotte, and Louis. However, he won’t do it alone.
As they have for many years, the prince and princess will get assistance from the children’s nanny, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo.
Borrallo has been with William and Kate since 2014. The nanny began caring for George when he was only eight months old.
“She is not married and doesn’t have a boyfriend, as her life is totally dedicated to the family she is working with. She is known for being totally professional – married to the job,” an insider told Hello Magazine.
Borrallo was trained at the prestigious Norland College in Bath. She makes all the decisions at home regarding the children, keeping with William and Kate’s outlined wishes.
Prince William spent Friday morning with Kate
Once Princess Kate can return home to Windsor, her own family is reportedly stepping in to help her. According to the Daily Mail, Kate’s parents, Michael and Carole Middleton, and her two siblings, Pippa Matthews and James Middleton, are set to support her at Windsor.
Michael and Carole Middleton will also be there for their grandchildren, George, Charlotte, and Louis. The couple live in Berkshire, near Windsor, and have regularly had the three children over for sleepovers.
Carole and Michael Middleton don’t only want to be there for their daughter – but also for their three grandchildren.

There haven’t been any images released that revealed whether Prince George, Princess Charlotte, or Prince Louis were there. Previously, it’s been reported that the princess’s three children were set to visit their mother at the London Clinic. Hopefully, their mother will soon be home. But even so, it might take a long time before they can play together in the garden or have games of tennis.
“I can’t think of another occasion in recent history…”
The statement from Kensington Palace focused on the fact that Kate’s surgery was “planned.” But how planned was it, considering that Kate’s office is only now reported to “clear her schedule,” and William is suddenly taking time off and postponing events?
That question makes royal expert Daniela Elser question whether the Princess of Wales’ surgery, in fact, wasn’t planned at all.
“If royal officials are, as the Times has reported, currently ‘clearing’ the Princess of Wales’ diary ‘for several months to allow her proper recovery time’ then this was all a bit more sudden than the bland statement would otherwise suggest,” Elser wrote.
“Royal sources have told the Telegraph that not only will the father-of-three not ‘undertake any public duties’ while his wife is in the London Clinic but also blocked out ‘the immediate period following her return home.'” she continued. “I can’t think of another occasion in recent history when senior members of the royal family have wholly taken themselves off the board so suddenly and for such a lengthy period of time. All of this is perturbing.”
Moreover, Daniela Elser wrote that it’s very unusual for royals to postpone engagements, especially if one isn’t sick, referring to William taking time off to take care of the children and his wife for the two upcoming weeks.
The Prince and Princess of Wales were set to visit Rome, Italy, in the upcoming months, and many engagements, visits, and meetings in the UK will now have to be postponed and re-scheduled.
Royal expert share new “alarming” theory on Kate Middleton surgery
To Elser – considering Kensington Palace saying “planned” surgery – this is an alarming detail.
“The prince and princess were also set, according to the Telegraph, to have another short overseas tour on the books for sometime in February too. That too has now been kiboshed. Tours like these take more planning and prep-work than most lunar missions, thus for the plug to be pulled so late in the game is a particularly alarming detail,” she wrote.
Kate Middleton is set to stay at the private London Clinic. So, why can’t she go home earlier? According to an expert, there are many reasons why the princess must stay.
Dr Deborah Lee from Dr Fox Online Pharmacy told Express that it all depends on what type of surgery Kate has undergone. Meanwhile, alarming news is that the Princess of Wales might have difficulty performing simple tasks in the coming months.
“For abdominal surgery, most people stay in the hospital for four to seven days. After laparoscopic surgery [a type of keyhole surgery], this is reduced to two to four days,” she said.
“It very much depends on what exactly has been done. If a patient needs to go to ITU, it’s likely their hospital stay would be considerably longer. It can take two months or more for the patient to feel comfortable and be able to move around normally afterward.”
