Taylor Swift’s mom diagnosed with a brain tumor

Taylor Swift became the youngest solo artist to write and record a #1 hit on the U.S. Hot Country Songs chart with the single “Our Song.”

Since then, she’s been in a constant spotlight and as we all know, life can be hard to keep private when you become one of the world’s most famous persons.

Despite this, Swift has stood firm with both her feet on the ground – perhaps thanks to her loving and caring family.

Unfortunately, Swift just shared some incredibly tragic news with the public.

In an interview with Variety, Taylor Swift revealed that her mom, Andrea, was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor.

In 2008, Swift told US Magazine that her mom was receiving treatment for cancer, but back then she didn’t specify the type of cancer.

“While she was going through treatment, they found a brain tumor. And the symptoms of what a person goes through when they have a brain tumor is nothing like what we’ve ever been through with her cancer before. So it’s just been a really hard time for us as a family,” Swift told Variety.

Taylor Swift is very close to her mother. For example, her song “Soon You’ll Get Better” is dedicated to Andrea.

“Everyone loves their mom; everyone’s got an important mom,” Swift told the magazine and continued: “But for me, she’s really the guiding force. Almost every decision I make, I talk to her about it first. So obviously it was a really big deal to ever speak about her illness.”

Her mom’s brain tumor is affecting her whole family, according to Swift.

“And the symptoms of what a person goes through when they have a brain tumor is nothing like what we’ve ever been through with her cancer before,” Swift said. “So it’s just been a really hard time for us as a family.”

Unfortunately, nearly 700,000 Americans are living with a brain tumor. It’s a terrible disease that we need to fight on all fronts – through research, awareness, and support we can hopefully save more lives.

To Taylor, I’m truly sorry to hear this. The bond between a mom and daughter is nothing that compares to any love. My heart goes out to you and your family. Prayers sent your way! 💜
