Princess Diana – early life
Princess Diana was born Diana Frances Spencer on July 1, 1961, at Park House near Sandringham in Norfolk, England. Her parents, the then Viscount and Viscountess Althorp, John Spencer and Frances Shand Kydd, were very wealthy and, at the time, lived at Queen Elizabeth II's estate at Sandringham, renting Park house. Diana's father had been a royal equerry for both Queen Elizabeth II and her father, King George IV.
After her father later inherited the title of Earl Spencer in 1975, Diana was called Lady Diana. When she was only six years of age, her parents split, and Diana was caught in an ugly custody dispute. How did Diana meet Charles?
Princess Diana met her future husband, Charles, for the first time in 1977, when she was 16 years old, for the first time.
