Long before Full House became one of the top shows of the ’90s, Dave Coulier met Bob Saget during a standup set in Detroit when Coulier was just 18 years old.
Coulier, who was joined by Candace Cameron Bure, Andrea Barber, and Jodie Sweetin, attended this year’s 90s Con held in Hartford, Connecticut. The former costars talked about their time on Full House and Fuller House and relived old memories as part of a panel during the three-day event.
At one point Coulier revealed he first encountered Saget, who died suddenly in January 2022 at 65, when he was 18 years old.
“I have so many memories,” he said.

Coulier, who played Uncle Joey on the series, explained he was beginning his career as a standup comic when he ran into Saget in Detroit.
“Bob came into Detroit on a comedy tour with [two other comics], and they were brilliant,” he recalled. “And I’d only been doing standup in clubs for like a couple of weeks, and Bob of course went up third after those two guys, and he was so funny and so polished and so incredible.”
“And I’ve got braces on my teeth, and I’m like, ‘Hi, Mr. Saget. How are you? You were really fun, sir.’ And he was like, ‘Call me Bob,’ “
Coulier remembered Saget wrote his contact info down on a napkin and told him to give him a call the next time he found himself in Los Angeles.
“And I thought, ‘Wow, how cool is that?’ “
When Coulier arrived in Los Angeles he decided to contact Saget. To his surprise, without much hesitation, the man he met in Detroit told him to “come on over.”
“I couldn’t find an apartment, so I ended up sleeping on his couch for two weeks while he went on the road. He didn’t know me! He just let me stay in his apartment, and then art imitated life. When we do Full House, I move into Danny’s house and sleep in the doggone alcove. And Bob would go, ‘This is really weird.’ ”
During the Full House panel, the cast was asked if they would ever consider doing yet another revival.
Everyone seemed excited about the idea, especially when Coulier suggested the show would be called Fullest House done in the style of Friends and one where they “keep Bob’s legacy alive.”
Such a sweet memory. This just goes to show the kind of person Bob Saget was. May his memory live on forever.
