Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez created quite a buzz after they were caught sharing secrets at the Golden Globes on January 7.
The former Disney star was captured in an image, whispering sweet somethings in her besties’ ear. But, when the photo went viral, rumors started swirling, forcing Gomez to set the record straight over what she said to make Swift look so surprised.

Unsurprisingly, there was a lot of drama at the star-studded Golden Globes on January 7.
Selena Gomez, who was nominated for her role in Only Murders in the Building, was at the event with her boyfriend, record producer Benny Blanco, whom she was seen snuggling.
Gomez shared a series of snaps from the evening, some where she’s seen in a stunning red gown and another where she’s cozied up with Blanco, who’s holding her from behind and kissing her neck.
When she wasn’t with her man, who she’s believed to have been dating about six months, Gomez was walking the red carpet with her Only Murders co-stars Meryl Streep, Martin Short and Steve Martin, or hanging with her bestie Taylor Swift.
Best friends forever
Swift, 34, and the 31-year-old ‘Calm Down’ singer have been close since 2008 when they were dating two of the Jonas Brothers.
In 2014 at the Met Gala, Gomez shared a sweet Instagram clip of the two dancing around before the event started.
She captioned the clip, “…sometimes you wanna just be you with someone who knows all your secrets.”
When the two are together, they do what besties do, which includes sharing secrets.
Gomez was captured in an image, saying something to the ‘Anti-Hero’ singer that made her look shocked.
Rumors quickly circulated, suggesting she was telling Swift that Kylie Jenner, 26, snubbed her when she asked to take a photo with her date, Wonka star, Timothée Chalamet, 28.
The next day, after the photo went viral, Gomez quashed the rumors when E News shared an Instagram post reading: “At tea time, we’d love to know if Selena Gomez was really gossiping about Kylie Jenner & Timothée Chalamet at this year’s Golden Globes.”
The Texas-born singer and actor fired back, writing, “Noooooo I told Taylor about two of my friends who hooked up. Not that that’s anyone business.”
Netizens immediately jumped into the comments section, some suggesting she’s “too famous” to offer an explanation, and others saying “give it a rest.”
“Girl, you don’t have to explain!! You’re too famous for this!!” writes one.
A second shares, “I’m sure the people she gossips about aren’t surprised. It’s just a surprise that it’s on camera.”
A third says, “They could’ve literally been talking about how bad their feet hurt, or guesses at who won what category. Give it a rest.”
Meanwhile, outside of social media, a source close to Gomez told People, “She was absolutely not referencing anything about Timothée or Kylie,” The insider added that Gomez “never even saw or spoke to them [Jenner and Chalamet]” at the Globes.
TMZ also reports that after catching Chalamet on a stroll the day after the big event, he also shut down the drama.
When asked by the photographer if things were okay between Jenner, himself and his co-star from Woody Allen’s 2019 film A Rainy Day in New York, he said “of course,” and that they’re “all good.”
