Tom Cruise is a man who needs no introduction. The actor is well-loved around the world and his movies are adored by millions of people. One of the things that people gush about Cruise is his gorgeous looks, which are only getting better with age.
But now it seems some pictures have surfaced which have got some people worried.
Tom Cruise recently attended a charity gala in London for London’s Air Ambulance Charity at Raffles London at the OWO (Old War Office). Others in attendance at the event were Prince William and more dignitaries. Cruise was, of course, one of the VIP attendees.
Some people noticed that the actor looked ‘chubbier’ than usual, according to some media outlets, as he posed next to members of the British Royal Family in his three-piece suit and matching bow tie.
A few months ago, Cruise was pictured leaving London so he could continue shooting the eighth installment of his Mission Impossible franchise. Cruise will be reprising the role of Ethan Hunt once again.
Cruise has always been shy around fans. He has said in the past about people recognizing him, “I’m really very private, in my own world. Suddenly I was someone walking on the street and people were looking at me and I was thinking, ‘Jesus, is something hanging out of my nose?’” He added, “It took time to get adjusted to it. It was such a perfect time to do Legend in England. Everyone is looking at you, and somehow, just moving your hand seems so much more exaggerated.”
The actor is now several decades into his career, and getting recognized in the streets is no new experience for him. Fans are used to actor’s chiseled good looks that have only gotten more handsome with age. Tom Cruise has been long known to dislike makeup and only allows his personal glam team to get him ready for events and interviews.
In 2021, when Cruise showed up to a baseball game in San Francisco with what seemed like a puffy face, people began to speculate whether he had undergone a cosmetic procedure. Registered aesthetics nurse Dawn Attewell weighed in on the issue and said, “You can see that Tom looked swollen and puffy, which could be due to excessive filler, post-procedure swelling, or weight gain.” She also noted that “surgical procedures such as a platysmaplasty, or neck lift, combined with a mid-facelift could create this type of swelling in these areas.”
People on the internet, however, did not have a lot of kind things to say about Cruise’s looks; they said, “Tom Cruise didn’t age; he got some awful work done on his face that bloated him like a frog” another person said, “this looks like someone wearing Tom Cruise’s face.” However, after Cruise attended the Cannes Film Festival in May 2022 and looked much like his old self, the mean comments stopped.
However, the debate on whether or not Cruise ever got cosmetic procedures never really went away. Since the actor looks young for his age, people speculate if he has dabbled in the world of fillers, surgery and hair transplants.
Dr. Richard Westreich weighed in on the issue and told The Sun that the film star “might have had Botox.”
“Forehead looked as smooth as a drum. His eyebrows also look a little lower than usual,” Dr. Westreich said. “If Botox is done fairly heavily, then the brows can drop, and this looks like pretty heavy Botox to me on his forehead…the fact that he may have waited all this time to get Botox is quite interesting.” Tom has never confirmed this claim.
In 2012, in an interview with Playboy magazine, Tom said of cosmetic procedures, “I haven’t and never would.”
Tom’s former personal manager and retired show business executive, Eileen Berlin, once revealed that Cruise was “so insecure about his looks that he took an entire day experimenting with poses for his first publicity headshot.” She went on and said he “will do whatever it takes to preserve his youthful image as long as possible and will fight anything that stands in his way. Other clients would have you take just one headshot, but Tommy was intent on perfection.”
