Kate Middleton could end up paying ‘high prize’ in Prince Harry’s book, experts claims

On Tuesday, Harry will release his tell-all memoir Spare.

What the book will include, and what will be revealed about the Royal Family remains unclear. Several members, including King Charles, Prince William, and Kate Middleton, are likely to feature, though some reports suggest that Harry’s father might actually be spared from most of the criticism.

Willam and Harry’s relationship has been a big talking point in the last year. Whether or not the brothers will ever be able to mend their broken relationship is a question only time can answer. Yet one royal expert is now suggesting might put an end to any hopes of William and Harry plastering over the cracks.

It’s believed that William might be heavily criticized by his brother in Spare. Not only that, but Kate could be too, according to royal commentator Daniela Elser.

Harry and Meghan’s Netflix documentary – released in early December – was the beginning of the next chapter for the Sussexes. After the infamous Oprah interview, things had been relatively quiet regarding their opinion of the Royal Family after they left for pastures new. That changed abruptly with the Netflix series, though neither Meghan nor Harry mentioned too many names in particular.

Harry’s tell-all book ‘Spare’

On January 10, however, Harry is set to publish his memoir. It has been a talking point for a long time, and several reports have revealed that his book – published by Penguin Random House – is bound to create new tension between himself and the rest of the Royal Family.

Some say it will include sections focusing on the rift between Harry and William and the presently-strained relationship between Harry and his father, now-King Charles. But now, reports suggest that Kate Middleton also will get her fair share of criticism.

Harry’s tell-all book has been said to be an “accurate and wholly truthful” account of his life.

The Prince dropped the news that he was writing a new book four months after the now-infamous Oprah interview aired.

“Prince Harry will share, for the very first time, the definitive account of the experiences, adventures, losses, and life lessons that have helped shape him,” Random House said in the press release, teasing the book as an “honest and captivating personal portrait.”

New details about Harry’s book were disclosed recently, and the release date is January 10. It will be named Spare, and there has been speculation that it might address Harry’s “spare” role as the second son of a king. Other reports suggest the meaning behind it focuses on that fact that he has been “spared” from the Royal Family now that he has left.

Harry reportedly paid $20 million upfront for ‘Spare’

No matter what, it’s generally rumored that the memoir will paint a negative picture of his family. According to Page Six sources, the book will contain several truth bombs.

“It’s juicy, that’s for sure,” one NY publishing source told the news outlet.

“There’s a lot of new stories in there about the past that Harry has not spoken about before, about his childhood … there is some content in there that should make his family nervous,” another publishing insider added.

Despite making plenty of money from his previous work, Harry will be raking it in when it is released. According to Page Six, he’s already received “at least $20 million upfront” from his publisher, Penguin Random House.

May 6 will mark the 4th birthday of Harry and Meghan’s son, Archie. How the couple reacted to the fact that King Charles’s coronation will be on the same date has not yet been revealed. Neither has it been confirmed whether Harry and Meghan will even be invited.

Some reports argue that King Charles is furious, and doesn’t want Harry and Meghan to attend. Others claim that Charles, irrespective of all that has been said and done, wants his son and daughter-in-law in attendance.

Kate Middleton reportedly criticized in Harry’s book

In a short clip from an upcoming television interview with ITV – one of two interviews that air Sunday before the book release – Harry refused to commit to his father’s coronation.

“There is a lot that can happen between now and then. But, you know, the door is always open, the ball is in their court,” he said. “There’s a lot to be discussed, and I really hope that they are willing to sit down and talk about it.”

As mentioned, several Royal Family members will reportedly be criticized in Harry’s upcoming book. That includes Kate Middleton, whom Harry used to have a great relationship with.

Harry first met and was introduced to Kate in 2003 at Highgrove. The Duke of Sussex was around when his brother, Prince William, invited Kate to meet his father at Prince Charles’s family house.

“I actually went bright red when I met [him] and scuttled off feeling very shy about meeting [him],” Kate admitted.

“William wasn’t there for quite a bit of the time initially, he wasn’t there from Fresher’s Week, so it did take a bit of time for us to get to know each other, but we did become very close friends from quite early on.”

According to reports, Harry was excited when he saw his brother’s future fiancée. Author Christopher Andersen, who has written the book “Brothers and Wives: Inside the Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry, and Meghan,” claims that Harry was very impressed when Kate entered the room.

Harry & Kate Middleton – relationship

“When Will’s girl looked away for a moment, Harry dropped his jaw and mouthed the words: ‘Oh my God, she is gorgeous!'”

Indeed, Prince Harry and Kate got along in the beginning. A University friend of Prince William and Kate, Jules Knight, said:

“Kate and Harry got on like they’d known each other forever.”

While William has always been the more severe type, Kate and Harry found they could relate to each other on another level. According to friend Jules Knight, Harry and Kate enjoyed a playful bond.

“They were always full of fun when they were together. They were joking around all the time – always trying to find ways to make each other laugh,” said Knight.

Harry and Kate friendship was perhaps strongest before the former fell in love with Meghan Markle, former actress on the television series Suits.

Harry and Meghan began dating in July, 2016, and things quickly picked up momentum. The two became a couple, and Meghan and Kate became good friends after a while. However, as you likely know at this point, things didn’t end well.

Today, Kate and Meghan’s relationship is not what it once was.

Meghan took a swing at Kate in Netflix series

Meghan had a tough time once she became a part of the Royal Family. Upon meeting Prince William and Kate Middleton for the first time, the former actress realized she was heading into unknown territory.

When she met Kate, the former Suits actress was taken by surprise. Meghan, Harry, William, and Kate are said to have met for a couples’ dinner. Yet even though it was an intimate gathering, Kate showed less outward affection than Meghan would’ve liked.

In the Netflix documentary series, Meghan took a swing at Kate for being reserved and not as welcoming as the former actress expected her to be.

Even behind the scenes, formality seems essential for the Royal Family’s most senior members.

“When Will and Kate came over, and I met her for the first time, they came over for dinner, I remember I was in ripped jeans, and I was barefoot,” Meghan recalled.

“I was a hugger. I’ve always been a hugger, I didn’t realize that that is really jarring for a lot of Brits.”

Kate Middleton might pay ‘high price’ in Harry’s book

She continued: “I guess I started to understand very quickly that the formality on the outside carried through on the inside. There is a forward-facing way of being, and then you close the door and go ‘You can relax now’, but that formality carries over on both sides. And that was surprising to me.”

Kate Middleton and Meghan’s strained relationship affected others, particularly Harry. And in his upcoming tell-all book, an expert claims that the Prince will take aim at the Princess of Wales.

A royal insider told the Sunday Times that Harry’s book would be “worse for them than the Royal Family is expecting,” as well as ending any hopes of the two brothers ever repairing their relationship.

“Everything is laid bare. Charles comes out of it better than I had expected, but it’s tough on William, in particular, and even Kate gets a bit of a broadside,” the insider said.

“There are these minute details, and a description of the fight between the brothers. I personally can’t see how Harry and William will be able to reconcile after this.”

“Discomfort and sadness for William and Kate”

Meanwhile, royal commentator Daniela Elser says that Harry’s “raw, unflinching honesty” could be a “nightmare” for Kate Middleton. As reported by the Daily Star, Elser, a reporter for news.com.au, says that the book will be a “hard experience” for Kate.

“For Kate, right now, watching her formerly close brother-in-law on the cusp of yet another offensive, and with not only her husband reportedly in his sights but her too, must be a particularly hard experience, not least because there is nothing they can do,” Elser said.

“Unlike in the wake of Harry and Meghan’s Oprah interview, when we got the now-iconic ‘recollections may vary’ statement, so far, Buckingham and Kensington Palaces have assiduously refused to comment on the Sussexes’ broadsides.”

She added: “The way things look today, there may well be more discomfort and sadness for William and Kate to come.”
